M&D Playhouse announces auditions for A Christmas Carol

The Charles Dickens classic has been adapted by Director Christopher Bellis, who is seeking performers of all ages and genders for this production which will feature Scrooge as a female. No experience required – just enthusiasm! 

Auditions will take place at M&D Playhouse at 2760 White Mountain Highway, North Conway, NH on Sunday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3 at 6:30pm. 

This is an open call and will consist of cold readings from the script. All actors cast will play multiple roles in the production (except for the person performing the role of Scrooge). Christmas Carols are integrated into the production so all cast members will be asked to sing as part of the production.

Performance dates are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, December 1 – 18.

Roles available:

Scrooge: Female 50+.  An older woman, hardened by life, in a male dominated society, successful in business, and has not been able to find the love and acceptance they seek in Victorian London. 

Ensemble and Carolers including:

Male 50+: Plays Jacob Marley and townspeople.

Female 40–60: Plays Ghost of Christmas Future, Mrs. Fezziwig and townspeople.

Male 40 – 60: Plays Walter, Fezziwig, Arthur, Butcher and townspeople.

Female 30–50: Plays a younger version of Scrooge, Fred’s wife and townspeople.

Male 30 – 50: Plays Fred, Ghost of Christmas Past, Karl and townspeople.

Male 30 – 50: Plays Bob Cratchitt and townspeople.

Female 25-40: Plays an older version of Belle, Mrs. Cratchitt, and townspeople

Female 25–40: Plays an older version of Scrooge’s sister Fan, Ghost of Christmas Present, Caroline, and townspeople.

Female 16–25: Plays a younger version of Scrooge and townspeople.

Female 16–25: Plays a younger version of Belle, Nancy (Fred sister), and townspeople.

Male 16 – 25: Plays young Jacob, Lawrence (Fred child), and townsperson.

Female youth (under 18) – Plays Martha (Cratchit Child) and townspeople.

Female youth (under 16) – Plays young Scrooge, Victoria (Fred child) and townspeople.

Female youth (under 16) – Plays young version of Scrooge’s sister Fan, Belinda (Cratchit child), and townspeople.

Male youth (under 16): Plays Peter Cratchitt and townspeople.

Male youth (under 12): Plays Tiny Tim and townspeople.
